Type 1 Asbestos Surveys - Location and Assessment (presumptive survey)

For a type 1 asbestos survey, the surveyor will locate and assess all suspect asbestos-containing materials (ACM's) in your builidng. No samples will be taken during this type of survey as this work is deffered to a later date, e.g. prior to demolition or major refurbishment.

All areas will be accessed and inspected where reasonably possible, or if not accessible they are presumed or strongly presumed to contain asbestos.

All materials that are presumed to contain asbestos are then treated as asbestos, even if they are thought not to be. An assessment is made of all suspected materials to determine its overall risk potential.

The survey will comply with all current regulations, and determine if there is need for a further survey, which involves sampling.
