Refurbishment / Demolition Survey
Full access sampling, identification and assessment (pre-demolition/major refurbishment survey)
A Refurbishment / Demolition Survey is designed to locate and describe, as far as possible, all ACM's in a building and can involve destructive inspection to gain access to all areas.
This type of survey should be conducted on properties where demolition, upgrades or major refurbishments are programmed to be undertaken. As with a Management Survey, samples from all suspected ACM's are collected and then analysed to confirm if the surveyor was correct in their assessment.
This survey requires full access to all areas of the site including any basements, service ducts and roof voids. If an area cannot be accessed, force will be used to open the area up unless it it impractical to do so and in such cases asbestos will be presumed to be present until opened.
The survey will be conducted by means of visual and intrusive inspections leading to any subsequent sampling of suspect bulk materials. It is possible if left in place, that fixtures and fittings could be damaged and so we recommend these surveys are performed when the premises are unoccupied.
Samples are always taken in line with the Health and Safety compliant risk assessment and safe method of work which is prepared for each site.
If you believe you need an asbestos survey for your building but aren't sure, call us and we can quickly let you know if it is necessary.
