Asbestos risk as Government cut funding to school building programme
The Government's decision to cut investment in Britain's school building projects will not only jeopardise the educational future of many children and young people but could leave thousands exposed to dangerous asbestos fibres, warns Reddish Vale Managing Director, Roy Tindall.
Labour's Building Schools for the Future (BSF) programme was intended to rebuild or renew nearly every secondary school in England but the new coalition Government have scrapped these plans, leaving many at potential risk.
Roy says, ́These projects could have unearthed some potentially serious asbestos exposure problems in schools all over the country, that otherwise would not have been found. From our point of view it was a great chance to ensure every school in England had been checked for the presence of asbestos and either made safe or removed.'
Reddish Vale have already worked with a number of local schools on the BSF programme and successfully identified and removed traces of asbestos. If you are concerned about asbestos in a school, contact Reddish Vale now for an asbestos survey or asbestos removal advice.
