Section of Edinburgh Arts Centre closed because of asbestos

A recent case of asbestos being discovered in an Edinburgh Arts Centre has sparked controversy in the local community. Some claim the Centreís Art Coordinator was told about the presence of the deadly material back in 2001 and failed to act.

It is yet to been seen if a case will be brought against this particular organisation or any individual but Roy Tindall, Managing Director of Reddish Vale Asbestos Removal & Surveys says others should take it as a warning. He says, 'This recent case in Scotland is unfortunately very common. Failure to act to the presence of asbestos is a serious matter as many people, staff and the public alike could be put at serious risk. Yes, there is a cost attached to having a survey carried out but surely the cost of lives would be so much more.'

Roy continues, 'If you are worried about the potential presence of asbestos anywhere, please report it to the relevant authorities. Similarly, if you are responsible for the maintenance of a building and would like any advice on asbestos or to book an asbestos survey, please contact the Reddish Vale team today.'
